"Run Time Error '5' Invalid procedure call or argument" running the 2006/1 update
Cause: The 2006/1 update for the 32-bit version of Instant Interest may generate this
error if no value is set for the "UpdateFrom=" parameter in the Instant Interest initialization
file (ii32.ini).
Solution: There are three possible approaches to solving this problem:
- Download a corrected version of the update program. If you choose this option, you should:
- Copy the contents of the CD to a location on your computer or network.
- Download UpdtVer.exe from our FTP site and
save it to the location to which you copied the CD in the previous step.1
- Rerun the update by running UpdtVer.exe from the directory to which you just saved the downloaded copy.
OR
- Modify the Instant Interest initialization file. To do this you should:
- Open ii32.ini in Notepad by double-clicking on the filename in Windows Explorer. (ii32.ini should be in your Windows directory. Typically this is either c:\Windows or c:\WINNT.)
- Add the following line at the end of the file:
UpdateFrom=A:\
- Rerun the update.
OR
- E-mail us at
and request to have a new CD
shipped to you.
Notes:
1If you have difficulty
downloading the file, it is probably because the rules for your corporate firewall do not allow
you to use the File Transfer Protocol. If you are successful at downloading the file, you may
want to consider registering to use our Internet Update program (see
our online manual for a description).
