Instant Interest Manual – Defaults

defaults.jpg

The Defaults option on the Settings Submenu is used to change the values in the II.INI file which determine:

  • where the program, rate, and worksheet parameter files are located,
  • the names of the rate file and the default parameter file,
  • the font to be used when printing interest schedules, and
  • the default worksheet view displayed when Instant Interest starts.

Any changes you make will be validated and then recorded in the II.INI file in your Windows directory. The fields on this form are as follows:

  • Program File Directory is the directory in which the Instant Interest program (II.EXE) and its help file (II.HLP) are located.
  • Rate File Directory is the directory in which the Instant Interest rate file is located.
  • Rate File Name is the name of the Microsoft Access format database which contains the Instant Interest jurisdiction and rate data.
  • Parameter File Directory is the default directory into which the user’s parameter files are stored.
  • Default Parameter File Name is the name of the parameter file loaded when Instant Interest is invoked. The initial setting of this value is DEFAULT.INT.
  • Printer Font is the fixed pitch font used when printing interest schedules.
  • Default View is the tab which is made active when Instant Interest is invoked. To change this default, point at the appropriate radio button or accompanying text and click on the left mouse button or position yourself in the Default View frame and use the appropriate cursor arrow keys to move the selected option up or down.
