Instant Interest for Windows

Installing Instant Interest to Run from a Network File Server

Installing Instant Interest to Run from a network file server is a two step process:

Step 1 is performed once. It installs the application on the network file server.

Step 2 is performed for each workstation that will run the application.

Step 1: Install the Instant Interest to be launched from the network

Prerequisites

The person performing the installation must have the ability to create, modify and update files in the following directories on the network server:

  • The Instant Interest Program directory; and
  • The Instant Interest Rate directory.

In a network installation the Rate directory is typically a subdirectory of the Program directory and inherit the rights assigned to the Program directory.

Step-by-step Instructions:

To install Instant Interest on a network server, perform the following steps:

  1. Run setup.exe from the installation package (either from the CD or from a copy loaded to a directory on your computer systems). This displays the following Welcome screen:

  1. Clicking "Next" displays the "License Agreement."

To accept the License Agreement and proceed with the installation, click the "I agree" radio button and the "Next" button.

Install Type
  1. The setup program will then display the following screen:

Select "Set Up Application to Launch from Network" as the installation type and click on the "Next" button.

  1. The setup program will then display the following screen as a reminder that setting up workstations to run Instant Interest from a network server is a two step process:

Click on "Next" to proceed.

Destination
  1. The next step is to tell the setup program where you want it to put the various types of files.

Please refer to "Specifying Destination Folder(s)" for crucial considerations regarding network installations.

If you click on "Same Dir for All" whatever value is in the Program File(s) field will be copied to the other two fields.

The setup program gives you the option of where to install DLLs and OCXs.

After you have entered valid paths for all of the enabled fields, click on the "Next" button to proceed with the install.

Program Group
  1. The next step is to tell the setup program where to put the shortcuts it will create.

After you have specified the Program Group to which the shortcuts will be added, click on the "Next" button.

  1. The setup program then displays the following panel:

Please make a note of the location of the installation log (C:\Program Files\ii32\ii32inst.log in the example above. If any problems occur, you should send this file to C&C Software at the address given.

Result
  1. After you have completed telling the setup program how to set up Instant Interest, the following status screen will display:

Some files (particularly MSAJT110.DLL) are large and may take considerable time to install, so please be patient.

  1. After all files are installed the setup program displays the following message:

If for any reason the installation is aborted, you will see the following screen:

Step 2: Set up user to run from network

Prerequisites

The person performing the installation must have the ability to create, modify and update files in the following directories:

  • The Windows directory;
  • The Windows System directory; and
  • The Instant Interest Parameters directory.

Step-by-step Instructions

To set up Instant Interest to run from the network installation set up in step 1, perform the following steps:

To install Instant Interest on standalone workstations, perform the following steps:

  1. Run setup.exe from the installation package (either from the CD or from a copy loaded to a directory on your computer systems). This displays the following Welcome screen:

  1. Clicking "Next" displays the "License Agreement."
